Our motivated to hire client in the pharma industry is looking for a driven and energetic candidate to step into a currently vacant Controller position. The position is located outside of Baltimore. Requires ability for the Controller to work initially on site 5 days a week with possibility of a hybrid schedule. This person will have somewhere between 4-6 people reporting to him/her. Life Sciences experience a definite plus.
Position Overview:
The Controller oversees all accounting and reporting functions, manages day-to-day finance operations, and leads a finance team. This role ensures effective internal controls, supports financial operations, and collaborates with senior leadership and other departments to integrate accounting with HR, IT, and procurement. The Controller also coordinates audits, manages budgeting, and develops financial reports.
Responsibilities:
Direct and improve accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, cash management, and fixed assets.
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and communicate financial status to senior leadership.
Oversee external audits, tax processes, and compliance with legal and company policies.
Supervise and develop accounting staff, manage the budget process, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Support cash management, business performance metrics, and special financial reports.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
5-7 years of relevant experience, with strong knowledge of GAAP and ERP systems (Sage or Microsoft Dynamics preferred).
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, analyze data, and make informed decisions.
Experience in the pharmaceutical field is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Quality Management Systems and cGMPs.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
